The problem with ‘healthy’ treats (especially when it comes to those of the ice cream variety) is that you can easily justify throwing portion control out the window. Especially when said ‘treat’ tastes just as delicious as the full-fat/full-calorie alternative.

Which is why the news that Halo Top Creamery is releasing their high-protein, fibre-filled and calorie-controlled frozen treats in individual sticks piqued our interest, hopefully making it a little bit easier to stop at just one.

The Sticks come in four flagship flavours that will be well-known to lovers of Halo Top – Birthday Cake, Sea Salt Caramel, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Peanut Butter Swirl, as well as one new flavour – Strawberry Cheesecake – and are set to hit supermarket shelves at both Coles and Woolworths nationally today. Each flavour comes with a ‘swirl’ of sorts – adding a touch of textural fancy to these bite-sized snacks.

Each serve contains between 80 – 110 calories, depending on the flavour that floats your boat, but also boast four to six grams of protein, at least three grams of fibre and all come in under 11 grams of carbs; making it a relatively healthy choice for when you want a guilt-free sweet treat.

Naturally, the body+soul team were keen to partake in an advance tasting of the single serve Sticks, and the response? Unanimous. Delicious, not too sweet, and just enough to satisfy a craving without tempting you to scoff the whole tub. Crowd favourite? Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, naturally.

Check out the new flavours below so you can eyeball them when you’re next cruising the frozen food aisle…
